Barry Farm Choice Neighborhood Steering Committee Meeting

Location: Basement of Excel Academy (2501 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE)

Description: City officials will meet with community residents to discuss the Barry Farm Transformation Plan. The neighborhood was previously awarded a HUD Choice Planning Grant (view presentation here), and the Transformation Plan will be submitted to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development to compete for a Choice Neighborhood Implementation Grant.

The Transformation Plan focuses on three core areas:

  • People: Support positive outcomes for families with a special focus on health, safety, employment, mobility and education
  • Housing: Transform housing into energy efficient, mixed-income housing that is physically and financially viable over the long term.
  • Neighborhood: Foster neighborhood development with access to well-functioning services, high quality education, early learning programs, public transportation, and new jobs.

Barry Farm Choice Neighborhood Housing and Neighborhood Subcommittee Meeting

The DC Housing Authority and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development will meet with community stakeholders as part of the master planning process. Barry Farm Choice Neighborhood People Subcommittee Meeting

Representatives from the DC Housing Authority and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development will meet with community stakeholders to discuss a range of topics including health, safety, employment, mobility, and education as part of the redevelopment/transformation plan for the Barry Farm neighborhood. Barry Farm Choice Neighborhood Master Planning Meeting

The DC Housing Authority and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development will host a public meeting with the Barry Farm master developer and planning team to present the draft transformation plan to the community. The community participated in a design charette in January to provide visioning and input for the master planning process.
