Lincoln Heights/Richardson Dwellings Community Meeting

The monthly New Communities meeting for Lincoln Heights and Richardson Dwellings will feature a development update on the 5201 Hayes Street project. Formerly a trash-transfer facility, the site was acquired by the city in 2008 for redevelopment as part of the New Communities Initiative. In September, the City Council approved the surplus and disposition of the property for redevelopment as a 150 unit affordable housing apartment complex.

DC SCORES Fall Frenzy

DC SCORES will be putting on their annual Fall Frenzy event this Saturday where more than 800 students from across the city will compete in a round-robin soccer tournament while rotating between activities such as face-painting, fitness booths, relay races, a creative expression table, and more! DC SCORES is one of the New Communities Initiative’s human capital partners, working in several schools serving Lincoln Heights and Richardson Dwellings. You can also sign up to VOLUNTEER!

The monthly meeting for Lincoln Heights/Richardson Dwellings will feature a presentation and design charrette from the development team on the 5201 Hayes Street project, a 150-unit affordable housing apartment complex in Lincoln Heights. The development team consists of Pennrose, the Warrenton Group, and Torti Gallas.

Lincoln Heights Land Planner Meeting

The New Communities Initiative will be working with Torti Gallas,  an architecture and planning firm that will be the land use planner for Lincoln Heights. Please join members of the planning team, as well as representatives from the DC Housing Authority and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development for an introductory meeting.

Connect.DC, an Initiative of the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) is hosting a Twitter Town Hall conversation on civic engagement. The conversation will focus on how technology, such as social media, has impacted civic engagement. All District residents are invited to participate by following the conversation at #civictechDC and @connectdotdc. Connected Communities is a District government initiative and New Communities partner aimed at increasing internet access and use in low-access neighborhoods throughout the District. The Initiative is currently focused on two footprints, one in Ward 7 and one in Ward 8 that includes the Barry Farm community.

Lincoln Heights Back to School Carnival

Homes for Hope 3rd Annual Health Fair

Homes for Hope, Inc. will be hosting its 3rd Annual Health Fair in Lincoln Heights/Richardson Dwellings on Friday. Residents can come for free health screenings, tips for healthy living, and fun activities for the entire family. CLICK HERE FOR THE FLYER.

Words Beats & LIfe, Inc. Inaugural Park Jam

On Saturday August 9th, Words Beats & Life, Inc. and WPFW 89.3FM will be hosting the first ever Park Jam at Marvin Gaye Park from 12pm-7pm.
