DC SCORES builds teams through after school programs for 1,500 low-income DC youth at 44 schools by instilling self-expression, physical fitness, and a sense of community. DC SCORES accomplishes this in an innovative model combining poetry, soccer, and service-learning year-round.
Higher Achievement will be hosting its annual Green Apple Awards — the 8th grade graduation ceremony — on Tuesday, May 19th. This is guaranteed to be a special evening where students will be celebrated for their acceptances into some of the city’s top high schools. Higher Achievement is a New Communities human capital grantee that gives youth from at-risk communities their best opportunity to succeed in middle school and in life.
The monthly New Communities meeting will take place on Monday, May 4, 2015, and will feature public safety updates, human capital updates, and a DCHA update. Click here for the meeting agenda.
