Lincoln Heights Land Planner Meeting

The New Communities Initiative will be working with Torti Gallas,  an architecture and planning firm that will be the land use planner for Lincoln Heights. Please join members of the planning team, as well as representatives from the DC Housing Authority and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development for an introductory meeting.

2 M Street Ribbon Cutting

Please join WC Smith, The Warrenton Group, and Mayor Vincent C. Gray and the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development for the ribbon cutting of 2 M Street on Wednesday, September 24th, at 2:00pm. The most recent New Communities project to be developed, 2 M Street is an impressive 314 unit rental development with a number of “green” features and amenities for residents to enjoy. True to the principles of New Communities, 2 M Street is a mixed-income project, with 59 units for former residents of Northwest One, and an additional 34 affordable housing units. 

Barry Farm Zoning Commission Hearing

The next zoning hearing on Barry Farm will be held on September 18th, 2014. The Zoning Commission Case is No. 14-02: A&R Development, et al. –“Barry Farm”– 1st-Stage PUD @ Squares 5862, 5865, and 5866. Connect.DC Twitter Town Hall

Connect.DC, an Initiative of the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO) is hosting a Twitter Town Hall conversation on civic engagement. The conversation will focus on how technology, such as social media, has impacted civic engagement. All District residents are invited to participate by following the conversation at #civictechDC and @connectdotdc. Connected Communities is a District government initiative and New Communities partner aimed at increasing internet access and use in low-access neighborhoods throughout the District. The Initiative is currently focused on two footprints, one in Ward 7 and one in Ward 8 that includes the Barry Farm community.

Lincoln Heights Community Meeting

The monthly meeting for Lincoln Heights/Richardson Dwellings will be an opportunity for residents and community members to hear updates about the redevelopment. This meeting will feature an update on the 5201 Hayes project. Click here for the meeting agenda.

Park Morton Community Meeting

  • Bruce-Monroe Elementary School (3560 Warder Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20010). The meeting will be held in the auditorium.

The purpose of the community meeting is to introduce the residents of Park Morton and the surrounding community to the development companies that are competing to become the Master Planning and Development Team of the Park Morton redevelopment project. Four proposals have been received to redevelop the Park Morton site.
