The next Barry Farm Steering Committee Meeting will be held on Thursday June 26th, 2014, from 1:30pm-3:00 PM at Excel Academy (2501 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE). See below for the meeting agenda.
New Communities will be participating as a table exhibitor at the city’s 6th Annual DC Housing Expo held by the DC Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) in partnership with the Greater Washington Urban League. The expo will take place on Saturday, June 21st, between the hours of 10:00am and 3:00pm.
The public zoning hearing for Barry Farm will be continued on Thursday evening as part of the Planned Unit Development (PUD) process. This portion of the hearing will allow for individual public witnesses to provide testimony in favor or against the proposed zoning application.The public hearing is a follow up to the initial application submitted to the Zoning Commission (click here for background). The Metropolitan Police Department will be hosting their Summer Crime Prevention Kickoff with a baseball game at the ball field by Simon Elementary School in southeast DC. The MPD Knight Hawks will be playing the WPGC-FM Naturals. There will be prizes/giveaways, a moon bounce, health screenings, and food, as well as opportunities to learn what summer activities are still available for children, teens, and adults! Also, residents can come learn about discounted Internet and computer offers and the Connected Communities Initiative at the Connect.DC’s Mobile Tech Lab!

The New Communities Initiative will be participating as an exhibitor and sponsor at the annual meeting of the Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND). New Communities will be joining over 1,000 professionals representing the region’s affordable housing and community development industry.
The monthly meeting for Lincoln Heights will take place on Monday, June 2nd, at the Riverside Center: 5200 Foote Street, NE–across from Marvin Gaye Park (located at the corner of Division Avenue and Foote Street, NE). This will be the last community meeting before the summer break. All Lincoln Heights and Richardson Dwellings residents are encouraged to attend!
